Default All Car Owners And Car Drivers Please Read

    Ive just had this e-mail

ALL CAR OWNERS AND CAR DRIVERS PLEASE READ Be aware of new car-jacking scheme.

You walk across the car park, unlock your car and get inside. Then you lock all your doors, start the engine and shift or put into reverse. You look into the rear-view mirror to back out of your parking space and You notice a piece of paper stuck to the middle of the rear window.

So, you shift the gear stick back into park or neutral, unlock your doors and jump out of your car to remove that paper or whatever it is that is obstructing your view. When you reach the back of your car that is when the car-jackers appear out of nowhere, jump into your car and take off!! Your engine was running, you would have left your purse in the car and they practically mow you down as they speed off in your car.

BE AWARE OF THIS NEW SCHEME THAT IS NOW BEING USED IN GLASGOW AND MANCHESTER
AND IS MAKING ITS WAY ACROSS THE COUNTRY!!!!!!!!

Just drive away and remove the paper later! It is stuck to your Window and be thankful that you read this email. I hope you will forward this to friends and family especially to women! A purse contains all identification, and you certainly do NOT want someone getting your home address. They
    already HAVE your keys!!!

I have been sent this warning and asked that it be distributed widely to alert everyone -
JUST BE AWARE AND TAKE CARE IT WILL PROBABLY SOON ARRIVE IN YOUR AREA

I dont know how true it is but thought id better post it just in case

No I dont..... I walk across the car park and see that some scroat has stuck some paper on my back window... Go over to it and rip it off with a frown saying to Diana (my wife) "look what some ******* did to this imitation VXR Diesel Vectra" - that will have put them off right there and then....

Then I say loudly... **** it, lets steal it ourselves and if the owner comes back I'll stab him with my knife...

No I dont...... anyone who has lowered their car always knows to reverse into a car park space to avoid damaging the splitter. I dont touch reverse before driving off.

errr.. no I dont have a purse... and the only 'mowing' down that will be done is me..... once I find out who stuck a sticker on my back window....

Maybe I need to read the script again... as it doesnt seem to go to plan doing it my way !!

This is now at least 12 years old
I heard this when at a vehicle crime briefing in Glasgow in 1996
Loads of cars were stolen, all by that same method, in just one week
However, I've not heard of any since, there are other methods in use now!

Whats more likely to happen is that the scroat and his mates will just jump you with knives and you will be happy to hand over the keys and watch your motor scream off into the distance.

You'll then look at your wife/partner and say.... oh well, it was good while it lasted. Lets phone the police and count our lucky stars that they are heading straight to our home (via Sat Nav) to burgle the place. The police can pick them up there !!

Best one recently was an "attempted" car jacking in Glasgow
The car pulled up at a set of traffic lights
The would-be thief opened the nearside front door, threatened the driver, shouting "get out, get out"
The driver then pointed to the radio and police ID on his shoulder
The would-be thief was identified by a victim at almost the same location a few months previously

But why would anyone set their satnav home button to their home address? Unless they kept forgetting where they lived
