Secondly, recommendations for a fuel treatment / additive for Diesel?

Halfords... and it does make a difference if you have any performance modifications.

If its standard engine performance, it'll probably just clean your engine and you'll not notice much.

It increases the Cetane levels slightly, so better/stronger power

The main difference in mine is much less smoke under heavy accelleration, and it lubricates the fuel pump better

I use millers and v-power, both combined make nice smooth power, and with a tuning box... wow! As for standard it takes a few tanks to work through but definitely makes it smoother.
