Default Aquamist 1S Water/Methanol Injection System

    Hi all,

We now have some experience assembling the Aquamist Water/Methanol Injection System following successful installation to Keiths Mondeo TDCi over the weekend (test vehicle)

As soon as we can get another cheap Aquamist water pump (off eBay) then we will do a how to on the Vectra for those that are interested.

If your interested in more information, post it below and Karl or myself will try and answer your questions..

it will spray water over your intercooler
the water then helps the intercooler say cool

nope, it sprays water in to intake manifold to create denser air and it cools it and as water doesnt compress it will yeild higher compression

But why!? Does it give more power or something?

i was thinking of the wrong thing just now

it will spray water in the turbo line just befor the engine to lower the boost temp
you can also for the brave spray nos there too

    1. The intercooling effect provides for more available air and all the benefits of a higher positive pressure ratio (more power giving fuel can be utilized safely without high combustion temperatures
    2. The combustion of water provides for more power
    3. Methanol acts as an additional fuel for more power

    Ok....

Its a system which enables you to spray a very fine mist of water/methanol directly into the path of your compressed air, on its way to the inlet manifold.

It therefore reduces the air temperature further and allows more power.

Its like driving on a cold misty morning.... your engine feels more 'alive' producing more power compared to a hot summers afternoon.

The kits provide a sophisticated water pump, boost controlled valve, mist jet and other bits and pieces...

All the WRC rally cars have them to keep race engine temperatures down

    Correct

    Correct..
If you watch Clarkson's Car Year Titled "How Japan Took Over the World Then Lost It", he shows the Subaru Impreza P1, he then compares it to the RB5 that proceeded it and says:

"It has a little button on the dashboard which sprays cold water onto the intercooler. What this does is increase the density of the air/fuel mixture and therefore maximizes the boost"

So all it does is increase the air entering the engine - not much of a car mechanic but i don't think fuel passes through the intercooler too - and allows more fuel to enter the engine too.
