I am about to buy another Veccy C SRi, I should never have sold my old one.
anyway which of the 3 engines should I get
the 2.2 Dti
the 1.9 (150) or the
V6
any opinions or comments on them would be good

I've had my 2.2 DTi for just over a month and love it. It's quite fast, great down the motorway and mine is currently doing between 29 and 35 mpg. I'm constantly doing town driving but once i get time to give a it a good run down the motorway it should rise quite a bit.
Before i got the car i asked on here about reliability issues and they seem to be much more reliable than the CDTi's
iv got a 1.9 cdti and im getting over 50 mpg on a run
and a load of power to go with it to

My take on 1.9 150 Vs 3.0 V6 (from that thread)
Well when I drove a standard 1.9 150 it did feel slower than the 3.0, but not by that much. Considering you are getting another 5-10mpg in the 1.9, you can see why there are so many about.
I find the power delivery in the 1.9 very fustrating. You need to give its loads of revs when pulling sharpish out of junctions. There nothing below around 1800rpm. I can pull out of junctions in 2nd in mine with no problems. The 3.0 power delivery is more smoother (linear) then the 1.9. The 1.9's power comes in quite quick ... but then goes quite quick too.
The only tuned 1.9 I've been in is spoons's and that goes pretty well indeed (as we know by Steve's 1/4 mile figures etc ).
I think the earlier 3.0 Euro3 177PS pre-facelift's are easily tunable. I think there's many people with boxes and remaps and not many have had problems. However, if you get a facelift 3.0 Euro4 184PS like mine then tuning is not really an option, its not very sucessful. I've tried 2 boxes and given up due to issues and Maverick has tried to get a Torquing BHP remap and 888 remap fitted to his 3.0 184PS and had issues, so gave up.
The one last trump card a 1.9 has over a 3.0 is the handling. The 3.0 is a heavy lump so not as agile round the corners.
So I think the options are this:
1.9 Standard - not overly exciting but probably more reliable than boxed. Will easily do up to 50mpg I belive.
1.9 boxed/remapped - as quick (maybe quicker?) than a 3.0 but without the 3.0's heavy handling
3.0 standard - good performance as standard (as I've kept up with a fair few "faster" cars lol). will do 34-42mpg. V6 sounds fab.
3.0 boxed/mapped - only for a pre facelift 177 Euro3. I think remaped prefaced 3.0's are stormers with 220bhp+
am on my 3rd 1.9cdti 150 sri. and **** me it still puts a smile on my face just gos like a train and i like pushing it hard and its returning 42mpg which a thinks very good a had the 2.0dti in my first veccy and that was really poor so if it was me picking mate theres only one that i would go for
Everyone is going to pipe up and blow their own cars trumpet here you know!!!!.
Try a V6 if you can.
Stonking engine, loads of torque for overtaking etc.
Had mine for nearly two years now and it always puts a grin on my face when I drive it.
Driven normally, it will return anything between 35-40mpg.
Oh and the noise.......that lovely V6 growl.
cdti (150) + caterman box =
I'd go 2.2, you get reasonable performance, no cambelt to change, easy fix faults and diagnosis.
V6 if you can find a decent one mate but failing this get a good spec'd CDTi 150
Mine's a 1.9 150 and i'm real happy with it. I'd love to have a go in a V6 to see how good they are tho.
