help please engine fault light

help me please, ive got a 53 reg 2.2 sri veccy, 37,000 on the clock. and been out in it to day, and the engine fault light has came on, and wont go out, it drives fine, no probs what so ever
if you put your foot down it goes like usal. ive had it 4 months had no probs, but the light has came on, drove bout 10 miles with it on.

no garages are open now till thursday i think, and im ment to be going down south in the next few days, checked oil, water, everything, no leaks or nothing, any ideas?

Can you clarify the light that's on? Is this in the rev counter with the spanner through the car (engine management), or an "engine" type symbol elsewhere on the dash.

The spanner through car, if on, I'd have thought you would have noticed a performance difference as this should be in emergency running mode. The other one I can think of is the emissions light. Check your handbook if you can, as from memory this is OK to use unless flashing, although there is a danger of damage to the cat.

carefull with the cat. and for the solution you have to plug the car and check fault codes to see what`s going on ASAP HTH

hi all thanks for the comments, it went off now, just come back from down south. had no probs no light or nothing. strange,

i got it off ebay the adjustable ones, there bout 30 quid aint put it on yet havent had chance, need to find out the pressure of the standard one, then going to set it to bout double its standard pressure

I've got the same regulator but the problem is the old regulator is cyclindrical and the adaptors supplied are not good enough!
