    Default Diesel fumes entering cabin

Hi everyone, finally got my Vectra C, its a prefacelift 1.9CDTi Sri 120.

Love it to bits, comfortable, great handling, quick enough.

One slight problem - there are diesel fumes entering the cabin (burnt diesel like being stuck behind a smokey old Peugeot!) - I see this seems to be a common problem, is it a cheap fix? Do Vauxhall repair it under warranty? my car is just 3 years old and has done 78k.......

    Please someone help!

    Matt

I had the same and it was diagnosed as a cracked exhaust manifold. The car was still in warranty so all was good.

Your car is just out of warranty though isn't it, so ask Vx customer services if they'll contribute as it is a known problem.

FYI - a faulty injector venting fuel vapour into the engine compartment can also smell like diesel fumes too. I had this too!

It's a alarmingly common fault...there are quite a few places it could be ranging from a cracked manifold ( as above) to EGR link pipe failing, exhaust gaskets failed, cracked turbo flanges......

it needs to go in to a dealers for investigation first, then you can decide if to get it repaired there or not..

booked into my local dealer now in Market Harborough, sounds like I get the pleasure of a Meriva for the day - doesn't seem a very fair swap to me!

If it was a leaky injector wouldn't it be spraying diesel all over the engine bay - i.e. you'd be able to see it?
