Default 2.2 dti window & engine mangement problems

    Hi

I replaced the battary in the car yesterday, and now have notice the windows are no longer one touch ( auto shut and open with one press), can someone tell me how to resolve this problem?

Also when i start the car the engine mangement light comes on for about 1 min, ( Not related to battary change ) can i clear it somehow?

They need resetting Peter.Press and hold the window button in the car as though you are closing and hold for a couple of secs. Do the same for all.

Does the management light go out when you touch the throttle ?
Is it really on for a whole minute if left alone, or go out on its own after a few seconds ?
Does this happen on warm or hot starts or just when cold ?
Have you had a diagnostics machine on it and if so are any DTC's stored ?

Nope, I can almost certainly guarantee, that if:

1: there are no fault codes stored, and,
2: it only happens on a cold start, not a warm or hot start,
3: the light goes out almost straight away if you touch the throttle, and,
4: if left to run on its own for a few seconds, (not normally as long as minute, but I guess you never know)

Then, if all the above are true, one or more of your glow plugs are on the way out.
You can get them tested, but I would personally just replace all four, and I did mine a few weeks back for this very reason/symptoms. (this is very well known on this engine as fitted in the Vec B's)
Should cost you no more than about £30-£40 a set, I got mine from a local motor factors and they are high quality NGK ones.
Fairly easy to do yourself, a bit awkward to get on a couple of them, but take the top cover off the engine and take the boost pipe that goes over the engine off and you get a bit more room.
Be aware, it has been known for these glow plugs to snap off in half when you try to remove them, so, give them a soak in some WD40 a few minutes before you try to undo them, be careful, take your time, don’t put undue pressure on them, ie keep the socket on them square and steady, and don’t jerk them undone, keep it smooth, mine came out no problem, this is more of an issue as the cars get older and the miles pile on. (HUGE headache time if this happens !!! possibly head off time !!! )
When you put the new ones in, make sure you copper slip the threads of the new plugs, and you MUST use a torque wrench to ensure you do not over tighten them.
