    confused WIND NOISE.....at 60 - 70 mph from Rear

WIND NOISE.....at 60 - 70 mph from Rear ....not somthing you want at any speed.

    BUT

On a Serious note anyone have any ideas as to what the High Pitched ( seems like wind noise ) Noise could be, it only happens between 60 & 70 MPH - dont know if it happens over 70...and is of a specific frequency

Car is a New Shape Vectra CDTI 120 DESIGN 5 Door.

    Cheers

What aerial mast have you got on the roof?

You should have the standard one with a corkscrew effect. (Bit of wire wound round it). This was done a few years back by Vauxhall to eliminate wind noise they had from earlier design masts.
Even if it has, unscrew and remove the mast and give it a shot.

And not to state the obvious but check the rear windows are shut tight.

Let us know how you get on.

Snowman, you got your ears on?

I had the same problem turned out to be the car phone ariel fitted to the heated rear window. if yours has one i cured it by lying the ariel almost flat and the noise has gone, not ideal but it was driving me mad.

Default Australina Made NCT 5 ( my own NCT 5 on my Elite CDTI are from Slovenia )

Looks Like its a problem with the NCT 5 as the aerial and mechanicals all checked out.
Vauxhall have checked it and also the tyre centre and both think its something to do with

    1. either the camber - it had a full tracking / camber check when the NCT 5 were put on
    2. irregular tyre construction

Awaiting now a call from Goodyear UK

Tyre centre have asked to see the car end of January 08 as there will be wear signs on the tyres to show what the problem could be

The sound is similiar to a beering

If the wind sounds from any of your back doors might be the door sills HTH
I have that problem at high speeds but from the drivers door.

I had all the door jams tightened up and a new regulator fitted to the rear window as they are known to wear as they are only plastic. Made a slight difference but then it started whistling. Open the door, sit in the seat and hold the door about half way open then put the window down and give the top of the frame a couple of sharp but gentle tugs. Helps close any gap at the top of the door. Worked wonders for me on this car and previous cars. Other way is to put a piece of paper in the door and close it then see if it comes out easy. It should require a bit of a pull if it dosen't then the door gaps are to large. HTH.

I tried your "adjust your door yourself" fix as above but the whole of the framework of the top of the door is made from steel and the door frame won't pull. ie. your pulling against steel which doesn't move unless your Arnold Swizzawazzer

Had A Funny Noise Coming From Tyres Last Night Going Over The Bridge At Glasgow Airport. Turns Out That Because Of Roadworks Certain Sections Of The Road Are Badly Worn And That Was Cuasing A Weird Noise From The Tyres. The Noise Disappeared When I Cleared The Roadworks

Grab the top of the frame at the b pillar and just where it starts to slope down. you'll be surprised just how much it can bend if you pull hard enough. It's not thatstrong and you'll probably hear it creak as it moves. You won't notice the movement just by looking as were talking mm in adjustment thats where the paper in the frame comes in so you can check the pressure on the seal.
