    Default LPG Conversion - anyone had any elec probs?

    Hi, due to he mileage I'm now doing travelling to london and back - the fuel price is killing me. I'm considering an LPG conversion on my 2003 vectra 1.8. Has anyone had any major problems after having one done i.e - intermittant ECU/warning lights etc from the fabulous warning system on the dash.

    cheers.

    Thumbs up

    hi kyser123,

    cheers for the reply. just had the lpg done by an approved fitter. picked it up yesterday. got to run it in for 1000mls though. no loss of power at all - is great. 48.5p/litre i will be paying for lpg - where as it's over a 100.00p for unleaded where i come from.

    hopefully iy will be the best decision i've made.

    cheers

    Hi I also have the 1.8 and was thinking of the conversion as I do about 30k a year. How much was it and was there a government grant?

    Thanks

    I think the government grant stopped a few years ago..so has to be funded by you am afraid...looking at £1500 - £2000 @Kicker will have a more accurate cost I guess...

    Oh and as for running costs enjoy mate its a blast knowing your getting between 50-60mpg lol

    I was under the impression u get the slightly less mpg and a slight power drop with lpg not an increase. Currently I get about 35 mpg with my 1.8. Are u getting 50-60?

    You have to compare it to petrol consumption so how it works is ...you do get slightly less consumption on LPG but then it does cost you less than half price of petrol...

    4.4ltr = 1 Gallon
    Lpg = 48p ltr
    Petrol = 1.05 ltr approx

    so; Petrol gives a 1.8 vectra aprox 27mpg
    45 ltrs at cost of £47.25 gives you 276-300 miles maybe (local
    driving)

    LPG for me gives me 35 ltrs for £16.80 I get approx 180 miles local
    driving only 22.64mpg at this rate

    so at the same cost I can get 100ltrs of LPG at same cost of £48 petrol as above that should give me 514 miles for my LPG thats at 50.24mpg to the cost of petrol....hope that makes sense took me while figuring all that out lol...then on top of that cheaper road tax becos of the lower CO2 and also congestion charge excempt on london.

    Only thing is the cost effectiveness of converting as mine was alread fitted when i bought the car but if you were to be doing the 30k a year driving should def get the money invested back in saving of fuel costs..if you did just 7k a year then not worth the cost of converting ..

    PS on motorway driving I can do 260-280 miles on the £16.80 of lpg..

    What that guy said!

    I highly recommend getting a BRC LPG kit fitted. It is by far the most superior kit on the market. The quality is superb.

    I had mine fitted to my Audi A8 2003 model. No electrical problems at all, and mine has significantly more cables and fibre optics than a Vectra...
