    Default Cruise Control not working

    Hi all,

    Merry Christmas from downunder..

I am having issues with my cruise control on a 2003 Vectra, 3.2 cdx (Auto).

It first raised its ugly head when after setting the cruise control it would suddenly switch off for no reason. After a few repeats of this event, it has stopped working and does not turn on at all - i.e. no lights in dash and no control of the speed.

Dealership has advised there are a number of fault codes (P1565, B3794, B3115, B3601) which would take a number of hours (more importantly $$) to diagnose.

I have read a number of posts about similar issues, but these symptoms seem different..

Anyone have any advice on what needs fixing?

    Cheers in advance..

Mine went a while ago (equivalent UK model, 2003 3.2 Elite Auto).

What I experienced was CC would switch itself off, and would not work again at all until I'd switched the engine off and back on. This got more frequent over time.

The dealer diagnosed this as a fault in the CC switch, and the stalk/switch got replaced under warranty, which cured the problem.

    B3115 = "Remote Key 2 Not Synchronised"
B3601 = "Key Capture Relay Circuit Malfunction"
B3794 = "Cruise Control Switch malfunction"
P1565 = "Cruise Control Interface Malfunction"

These codes are probably all related to the CIM (Column Integrated Module), so that's probably the place to start looking... I'd probably replace the stalk (relatively cheap) and if that doesn't fix the problem, replace the CIM($$$).

I had both these items replaced on my 2003 Vectra under warranty...

Also try driving along, lift the clutch pedal with your toe and try the CC. Sometimes the clutch switch spring goes.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

    - It's an auto, although it's possible your comment could apply to the brake pedal the fault codes suggest the switch.

My fault for not reading it fully. But as you say, the same applies for the brake pedal switch

Not so much the brake / clutch pedal switch, but the pedal return spring itself isn't man enough and needs replacing.

Cool - thanks for all the responses..

I'll have to play around with the brake pedal to test.

stevedee... im assuming you work with this stuff? or you're just some sort of code reading machine.. Can you just buy those parts and fit them yourself?

I'll also have a go at ripping (.. carefully removing ..) out the CC stalk to check that out as well. too bad i don't have a spare one laying around
    to test.

I'll let you know how I get on - fingers crossed !
