Talking Phase 5 has arrived - so excited!!

    Hi guys,

a few of you may have already read that I am doing this mod to my 2.2 petrol. Its basically an inlet manifold from the 2.4 version of the engine, bigger runners etc, hopefully means more power for me! All the way from the US courtesy of Courtenay Sport.

If the appropriate bolts make it to me before the weekend, it will be fitted, if not, will have to wait till the new year. As far as I am aware, there aren't any other vec c's with this mod so should be an interesting one.

    Here are some piccies:

And the bracket for the ecu...

Snap. Think there's going to be plenty of interest in this mate. Good to see some good old fashioned PETROL tuning for a change, not just plonking a tuning box on!!

You never know how much to believe of what you read, but I have seen a graph of just this mod on a vx220 and it was +19bhp from before. I expect a minimum of 10bhp, but am hoping for more. From what I understand, all the extra power comes at the top end.

I probably won't be having it rolling roaded before and after though, so I'll never know. Might have to record some 0-60 times before and after, or some mid-acceleration times?

Hoping that this is the beginning of mods to the engine, will get remap when I am at a stage I feel that a remap would be most beneficial, although I am always open to suggestions.

Could go for some Piper Cams, much cheaper and don't require the head work. (They are on my list when I can get hold of a locking tool).

surely sport's cam's will have to be fitted asap too,a gas flowed head and as you said a remap to maximise these mod's...... will be keeping my eye on this, it seems a different route to the dbilas throttle body set up i have seen on offer..............

as said interesting........and good luck with it all mate, dont forget to keep us all posted

The saab head doesn't require any head work, plus its sand cast so stronger to start with, but yes the piper cams look like the ones to go for.

    Cheers mate!

I like the thought of a gas flowed head, but not the labour cost . Trying to go a route where I can get as much power as I can, for as lower cost as possible.
