Thumbs down Starting to lose patience....

    .. with my car.

It has gone from being good with all the niggles ironed out to a pain in the bahooky !!

    1) Fuel consumption - down from average 29mpg and 340 to a tank to 22mpg and 250 to a tank.

    2) Parcel shelf rattling is really starting to get on my t1ts now
    3) suspension seems to be very crape over bumps cant just be cos of the 18"s
    4) performance is laughable though it never set the heather on fire.

i am at the stage i just have stopped enjoying a drive in it, in fact driving in general so i'm thinking in january of seeing what the settlement figure and trade in will be and taking a rodgering from my dealer and changing. I think i'm going to start using public transport and get myself a good cavalier sri or something to restore for shows and as a toy. Either that or try and find an astra gsi and getit up to about the 250brake mark. will cost to run but at least it might put a smile on my face lol

My 2.2's performance is so variable I wonder what it'll be like one day to the next.

1 day sporty and lively, the next like a friggin lada...

No spanners on the dash, so no point asking the gimps at my local dealer....

Well i booked mine in because i'm convinced there is a fuel leak somewhere but got told no spanner on dash not a lit they can really do. Was out in a friends cavalier 2.0 16v the other day and its done 150,000 miles, it runs smoothly despite the odd bit pinking and theres less rattles than my vectra. kind of at the stage of thinking why keep paying £220 a month for a car that i dont enjoy. Saw a silver gsi astra today and thought i like that! light car with 200bhp + thats cheap and easy to tune is a big argument against big heavy car that aint.
i thought getting the exhaust fixed would help the consumption as the old botch job had a few holes in it but no real gain.

i might just get the old mountain bike out and buy some lycra!!

The astra courtesy car i got didn't match the refinement of my vectra, although the GSI would probably be better than than the bog standard version they lent me!

Please don't lose patience with it, these things are that bad. Why don't you go down the indepenent route and get somebody like a decent rolling road to have a look and run through some power tests. As for parcel shelfs, they are made out of cheap cardboard and cheap fibre sprayed onto the board ( cost of manufacture about £ 1.50). Get a decent trim company to make you a flat parcel shelf out of wood and trimmed in a nice fabric to suit, it won't cost you that much ( certainly not the price of a replacement car). I've the made to measure shelfs and there great and there heavy enough not to squeek.

Don't give up, fight it yourself and f**k the dealers.

lol. i'm just a moan. simple things with cars **** me right off. local tuners have found it hard to rr due to being an auto so it makes mapping difficult. I will probably due to the fact i'm 8 months into a 5 year deal end up having to keep it for a while longeranyway. just couldnt believe how good the £300 cav was compared to it.

Cars are just a pain i think lol

Default Is it more a problem with having an auto

When work had a test 1.9CDTI SRi in for us to have a try of, Vx supplied an auto, it was a horribly slow sluggish car which everyone hated. Glad mine is a manual, but I don't rate it 100%.

As I've said before, the company I work for had Mondeo Ghia X's at my grade before, that has the refinement and toys level us company car drivers enjoy. Granted I ought to be comparing the Zetec S or ST against the SRi but it's still going to fall down compared to those cars.

A car for most is a personal choice, and if I was currently offered the SRi or a Mondeo I would choose a Mondeo. Yes the CDTI is a poky beast with easy power boosting potential but road holding and general handling despite the apparent tweaks in setup it still doesn't stick to the road like sh*t to a blanket....

I've always thought that the designers and engineers at Opel/Vx have got the Astra right and they had the Omega right but the Vectra seems to have been forgotten in some ways...
