Thumbs up insurance .... pays to complain :)

Hi all recently got rid of the cdti 150 elite and ended up running around in a 1.8 vectra estate w reg..anyway

Rang Admiral and got a new quote as my renewal was due.

    Vectra C 1.9 CDti 150 Elite 54 plate £505
    Vectra B 1.8 Estate LS w reg 2000 £450

What the F*kc only £55 different, so rang them back after hanging up on the Call Center some where in Outer Mongolia and got through to an american chap who was very helpful
I was on the phone for 20 minutes and he was struggleing to get the insurance any cheaper.
I did a search on moneysupermarket.com an d found that esure could do the insyrance for £295 full comp..
After i mentioned this to him, he said that he woul see what they could do and so in the post today my renewal form came through £288 fully Comp with protected no claims and 150 excess.

So if you get a renewal quote it is always best to complain unless it is cheaper

You'll find a lot of companies doing that.. I wonder how many people just stay with the same company year in year out without shopping around or trying to get a better deal..

they will nearly always try to match... when i made a claim for the keying of my car, my insurance went up by 150, when i got a cheaper quote, they said they would match last years quote..which was cheaper by a few quid, but with the apr worked out a lot more...with all the probs i had with them..i politely told them to stuff it!!

Both me and my wife are with Direct Line. We never 'renew' automatically every year. We always cancel and take out a new policy online as a new customer. It's significantly cheaper.

try the same company on the internet usually cheaper than the renewal. Quote this and by magic they match their own price.

I too have just done that. My renewal came in at £425ish, £30 more than last year!!!! So I called, oh we can do it for £395 and no less. After getting a few quotes they matched it at £345...... Surprising what they will do to keep you. Thats 7 years no claims too

Yeap really happy with the £288,

To be honest it was the first time, ever, that i had paid over £400 for insurance when i got the vectra C. Not to bad that considering I have been driving 14 years and had a few nice cars.
    CAV 2.0 SRI 130 when i was 21 and a Clio Williams when i turned 25
