Yep, Its the law...
I dont wear one in my truck, for the simple fact i genuinely believe they are a danger in the event of an accident...
Got pulled in a check a few months back and got asked why i wasnt wearing it, so told them and although they didnt say if they agreed or disagreed with me, i didnt get nicked for it..
Yep. The law dictates wagon drivers have to wear them now.
I never used to wear mine, same reason as Ben. The mounting was on the wall of the cab, behind the drivers door, the clasp, built into the drivers seat. If there was an impact to the side, it would pull your head off, if you're lucky.
The newer ones where the belt is totally in the seat, are much better and there is no excuse whatsoever for not using it.
as well as taxi drivers now...
i always wear mine as if i had a accident and no seat belt..then no claim...also it could save my life ....but i thought the camera vans were for speeding only...they wernt caught speeding....just no seat belts
Thought cabbies were only exempt whilst carrying a fare as they can easily be choked with the belt from behind.
if there fitted they must be worn.
i got a 30quid fine 2 years ago.
