    Smile New Vectra

Hi just a new member to your great site and would like some feed back on a new Vectra Design 2.2 direct face lifted model, I have just bought from my local dealer.

Any feed back on expected fuel consumption or previous "problems" would be appreciated.

    KC

Mine's auto and I get 29-31 around town and 35-37 on a regular motorway commute. Driving like an 'old lady' it is possible to better 40, but realistically if you average 34 overall you're not doing too bad in a large 2.2 litre petrol car.

Any moment now you'll see all the diesel boys posting....how their oil burners do 95mpg at a constant 130mph!!! Yawn!

I've got a 2.2 Direct manual SXi 04 plate and its been a really good car. It was far better then the Y plate (new shape) Mondeo 2.0 LX I used to have. As DougSRIDirect says its really good fuel consumption and I think its more economical and goes better than the older 2.2 unit.
Problems: front passenger side fog light that mists up that Vx refuses to fix and the indictors cancel prematurely when you go around a corner, again Vx refuses to fix - but apart from that its a very good car. The problem is mainly the dealers and not the car.

As this engine runs at a higher compression than the 1.8 or 2.0turbo its advisable to put in Shell Optimax or BP Ultimate to get the best economy, performance and drivability. The higher cost of the fuel is offset by the higher mpg. Typical mpg is anything from 30 - 40. My father-in-law did 750 miles in a week and averaged 44.6mpg and mines an automatic !
Take no notice of the "noise" that the dirty diesel boys make about their mpg. Ask them how much poisionous lead they are putting into the atmosphere !!!
