    Default Tyre Choices

Its time to replace my front tyres on my 150CDTI (225/45/17), but I was wondering what mileage people are getting out of their current tyres. The car had Linglong (?) tyres fitted when I bought it and they have lasted about 18.5k miles. I have never heard of these tyres but to be honest they seem ok, but looking on mytyres website they must be budget at £55 a corner!

Previously I had a Golf GTI and I was only getting about 14k miles out of tyres - I know it all depends on driving style and tyre brand but I was just wondering if 18k is good for the vx

over the years i have used budget tire's and they lack in grip and mileage, i only use a good tire, and i'm a firm believer in you get what you pay for.. i have just fitted Dunlop Sportmax 225/45/17.. had them on the Vec B and found them to be great...

I had rainsports on my 1.8 Astra Coupe................. They lasted 11k. Maybe it was me, but I found them excellent, just a little soft.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

My OEM XL Bridgestones lasted for just over 35k. I changed them for 91Y Michelins(£600) and they lasted for 10k so I've gone back to the standard OEM's(£550) running 225/45/18. Not sure if it is me or just the bad experience, but the XL tyres seem to last longer.

I've gone for Goodyear Excellence as a balance between noise and long life. £100 per corner fitted.
