Default 1.9 cdti power loss at low revs

    My 55 plate 1.9 cdti (120) has just developed a problem :
Below 2000 rpm loss of power and no pull or acceleration ( a bit tricky when pulling out of junctions) Once it reaches higher revs it goes like a rocket !
Any help on this would be most welcome.

take it back to the dealers..it should pull below 2500....

the turbo is always slow to spool up, but it still should move off

Sounds very suspiciously swirly valve type problem.. is one of the symptoms, lack of power below turbo speed

I took it to my local garage yesterday that ran the diagnostics while I waited. It came up with a fault on the ecu sensor. They reset the fault codes and suggested I ran it until today and then they would run the checks again. ( I prefer to use the local guys because if I go to the dealers they always want me to leave it for a day! and has this car works for living doing airport transfers it is not really a option, also at 120K its well out of warranty)
It ran like pig last night and the emmision light came on. But this morning the it started and ran ok but the emmision light remained on for 50 miles then went off.The spanner light then came on but went off when I restarted the car and it has run for a further 80 miles with no warning light or loss in performance. I will take it back into the garage later to day for a check and see what comes up. Is it possible that dirty fuel can cause this problem?

    top dogs,
lift the plastic engine cover and have a look towards the base of the glow plugs.
you should see a metal bar that runs left to right that sits on top of somr black circles. This is the rod that moves the swirl valves.
Get someone to start and switch off the car, the rod should move a bit (about 1cm) and then move again when the engine is switched off.
There are pictures on this web site, there is also a temp repair if the bar has popped off the actuator. Dodgy actuator = new inlet manifold and about 5hrs labour.
    Good luck
