Anyone in the NE/NW fancy a social meet up?

I know it's only a week since the Leeds 'do', but I was wondering if anyone fancied meeting up somewhere for a similar thing to Leeds?

I'm up in the NE at the moment - unfortunately not in such good circumstances. My father-in-law was re-admitted to Intensive Care on Monday morning and passed away this morning. The funeral is on Friday (9th Dec) so I'll be up until that weekend .

Would be nice to have some 'light relief' during this period as it's been a tough few weeks - particularly the last few days. So if anyone is up for it and has suggestions for locations/venues/dates - please feel free to suggest.

Condolences from us both, Duncan, thoughts going out to you and your family, we both understand all too well how you must be feeling. Can't make firm plans for the weekend since Chris rarely knows very far in advance what he is working, but will think of you and if we are about we'll see if we can get over to see you.

I'd forgotten about Bradford, as I hadn't been planning to be up in the NE until Christmas. I may very well come down - it's only an hour and a half for me.

Don't suppose anyone's going to be staying in the area on Saturday night? I kinda fancy a night involving getting rather drunk, having a laugh and crashing out.

Thanks for the 'offer' of Matilda Andrew, but I'd feel a bit sheepish accepting! Wouldn't want to deprive you of your 'entertainment' for the weekend!

Unfortunately I cannot make a meet this weekend as much as I would like to, but I'm glad 'Matilda' has been spared, as I don't want her too 'loose' for when it becomes my turn

Thanks for your thoughts folks. Sorry Louise and Andrew, I didn't thank you in my last post.

Still feels a bit 'surreal', as it's all happened so quickly. A matter of a month or so since his initial diagnosis of the cancer. We were pretty certain we would at least have him for Christmas, but fate is cruel sometimes. It's not right to lose your Dad/husband when he's only just turned 57.

Jane, her Mum and sister aren't taking it too well, as you'd expect, so I've taken it on board to deal with all the admin etc - arranging the funeral, registering the death and getting the death certificate, collecting wills from solicitors, notifying loads of different organisations - the list is endless!!!

Anyway, I'll definitely head over to Bradford on Sunday and see what develops for Saturday night. Andrew (Abyss) has kicked something off in the NE so see how that develops, otherwise maybe a social meet-up somewhere between here and the NW area?

my condolences to you and your good lady and her family, never a good time to pass near xmas, my gran died 3 yrs ago on her 71st birthday, that was dec 24th
i have spoken to andrew about going out saturday to help you celebrate your father inlaws life, but as weve just had a baby funds are tight, but the mrs has agreed to let me go to bradford (not under the thumb or anything!!!) so i will see you there or in the convoy down there
