Popped out on Wednesday morning and coming back home turning left on a 90 degree bend doing 5mph because the road was like a sheet of ice, she just went sideways and
BANG went the offside front wheel, while I went fcku
.
Apart from a gouge about 4 inches right on the edge of the rim the tyre is ok but the wheel either needs replacing or re-furbing as the corner has gone.
Went out later and as it gets up to 50 you can hear a grinding/grating noise and it is at it's optimum at this speed, no pulling but you can hear and feel it in the steering wheel and gas pedal and thought
OMFG this sounds feels expensive thinking I may have damaged the strut or bent a wishbone so booked it in to the dealers today.
Went to pick her up and sat down and asked the dreaded question, whats the damage.
Well sir we've loked extensively and can only find damage to the ofside alloy
. But the grinding, Oh that they said, there's play on both sides, you need the track rod ends and wheel bearings replaced on both wheels, we've ordered the parts should be in Monday
.
Hang on,
shouldn't you call me before you order the parts. Don't worry it's been ordered under warranty
, phew only 2k of warranty left.
So did the whack trigger it or was it a pure coincidence. How lucky can one get, expecting a £500 bill to £0 and they changed the sidelights as well as they were playing up and didn't charge me. What a pleasure it is to find a dealer that wants to take money from Vx not a punter and is very honest with it.
