    Default CDTI induction kit

Ok have fitted a universal induction kit to my sri 150(Cheap one thats been lying around the garage)i was carrying out the airbox mod and came across it actualy forgot i still had it,i removed the air box then fitted it in place of the airbox before the MAF so every thing is still the same apart from the filter itself is this ok or should i put the air box back on as i dont want to breakor damage anything.
FYI the turbo spools up alot quicker and what a noise it makes it also feels a bit quicker.

as long as it's before the MAF, then it'll be fine, though in the summer heatsoak will actually mean that it looses power over a sealed airbox..

As you may or may not know, I had a rather extensively modified induction system, with two foam mushrooms. I had shielded them from engine heat all around and added a second cold air feed for them. On the rolling road, with the bonnet up and the filters lifted it made excellent readings but with the bonnet down the bhp and lbft dropped heavily. As a result I have now gone back to the air box with internal modifications and additional heat shielding on the outside. I ran it with the bonnet down and then run it with the bonnet up and the mass air flow sensor pointing up so there was no filter (air straight into the MAF sensor) and the results were the same. So I believe that the airbox is a better option as you would require a very large cone to get the surface area of the panel filter and you would have to get alot of cold air blowing over it to get the same or better results.

I have put the airbox back on now have done the airbox mod and orderd a k&n panel filter will it make the turbo sound any louder i love the noise it made with the cone filter! Also i noticed that if you look on the grill there is a plastic plate thingy at the back of it and when the bonnet is closed this sits directly in front of the air intake pipe would removing this be a good idea or would this be there to stop water dirt etc entering the airbox?
