    Default change engine to diesel

hi. i need to change my 1.8 petral engine as a snapped cambelt ******ed the valves and was wondering if i could drop in a diesel ingine instead with not much difficulty. i know a new tank would be needed as well as fuel leads but dont know what else . if anyone does and can fill me in it'd be much appreciated. cheers

Just get a new car mate, the engines are far too complicated and dependant on computers to make this even a possibility I'd have thought...

Agree with penfold, either like for like engine or new car.
    Few other things to consider
Due to the additional weight of an oil-burner youi would need to upgrade the front suspension and possibly the brakes.
Then there is the circuitry for the glow plugs different wiring for the Tacho (diesels timed off alternator not coil)

as well as the need for the entire front looms to be changed, a massive session on swapping in the new ecu's and tech2ing the car to really confuse it.

it's really not going to make massive sense, and will cost you far more than you hope to save by running the diesel..as well as the new diesel lump costing more than the petrol one..

If it's just the cambelt snapped. you would be VERY unlucky to have seriously damaged the pistons and normally a new/salvage/recon cylinder head is all thats needed..parts would be around £400...
