Question 3.0 CDTi V6 Service intervals?

Just checking, how often is the service interval on a 2004 pre facelift Vectra 3.0 CDTi V6?

In my service booklet (where its been stamped), says its due every 1yr or 20,000 miles, whatever comes first. I was under the impression these engines had 2 yr/30,000 mile services? Is it just me being stupid?

    Cheers for any input.
    Pete

yep, the engine needs servicing at a MAXIMUM of 20,000 miles or 12 months...don't go over this as the engine's oil will be degraded to the point that it will fail to lubricate the engine properly...

Actually, if its on the ecoflex programe it can be UPTO 30k or 2 years depending how its driven, however its probably on the eco service so its 1 year or 20k.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

I'd never leave it that long....even the longlife oil they fill with doesn't last that long..and a common 'scam' by dealers is to fill with 10W40 semi synthetic which only really has a 15,000 max service life...but not tell you.. they then reset the service indicator which then runs for another 20,000 miles...

over servicing and regular oil changes are the BEST thing you can do to keep your cars engine 100% reliable

No, I wouldn't either. Mines done yearly or 10-12k, what ever is first. The 2 year 30k service was aimed at companies, not private owners really to keep the costs down.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

    Question

Ok cheers I'll get it serviced, I've seen some Castrol Edge 5-30, 2x4 litre cans for £45 delivered, does that seem like a good deal? I'd have enough for an oil change and some left over.

Or, I have 7 litres of Mobile One Fully Synthetic 0-40, in the garage from a year or two back. Its all fully sealed like new, but it doesn't have any mention of being long life, just 'trisynthetic'. I'm reluctant to use it. What you think?

    Cheers
    Pete

TBH, I'd get the 5W30 VX oil from them, as it's the same price as the castrol , but definatly longlife oil.....
