    Unhappy Failed Power Steering

Hi guys decided to put this out to you all to see if anyone else has had this problem.
I have a 2006 Exclusiv that has done 10500 miles ish. Yesterday after a day of Xmas shopping we stopped outside local shops on the way home. within about 20 yards of pulling away from the shops my warning light came on and I lost all power steering. I left the car until late this afternoon to give it a try and when I started it up the light had gone out and it was as if nothing had happened. Obviously it's going to the garage tomorrow but I'm just interested to see if it's happened to anyone else and if so what the outcome was from the garage.

    Vehicle : Insignia Grand Sport

    Trim : SRI VX-LINE NAV

    Engine : 1.5T (165)

    Year : 2018

    Mileage : 37000

I had the warning light on my previous 1.8 and the dealer replaced the Power Steering Pump (under warranty). Never lost power steering but light kept coming on.If it's not a software glitch, it's either insufficient power steering fluid/faulty power steering fluid sensor or a failing power steering pump.

    A terminal 24 (I think) error.

Basically, when you start the car, you wake a series of ECU's, it sounds like the one for the PAS decided on a lie in!

If it's under warranty, like Mark says, get Vauxhall to check it out. Generally it's not sinister.

    Angry Power steering

I have the same problem with my SRI estate. It has been pi.. me of for months. Every time I took it to the dealers they just reset it and said that because the fault was not present at the time they could not track it down, even though it was registering fault codes.

Anyway it played up the other day so drove it to the dealers with no power steering (If I turned of the ignition it would usuaally come back, but would some times play up for hours).
They pluged it to the computer and found it to be the pump and control unit. Hopefully they will be replaced on Monday.

well, if it was registering codes, then they have unfortunatly been spinning you a line......

The codes would have pointed to a problem, but no doubt they were hoping it'd not resurface during the warranty period...

Thankfully, the pump isn't a huge job to change, so they shouldn't have your car too long..

They are a cra... dealer. Would't use them if it was my own car.
