i know i have asked before but, on an MOT test for a diesel is it just a SOOT TEST they do on the exhaust or a full EMISION'S TEST, reason for this is i was looking at removing the cat from my exhaust system,

soot test only...they only measure particulate emissions per cubic metre of gases expelled..

we run de-catted diesels and have mot'd them without a problem for the last few years..

I'm sure it's just a particulate test. Removing the AT?

Edit: Ah, you meant cat, just missed off the c!

sorry for missing the "C" off,

will the dealer check to see if there is a cat underneath, i ask this cos we got half price MOT's for the life of the car with the dealer, and i am sure that MIJ did spoon's a de-cat but with flanges on so he could re-cat it for the MOT, just to add more confusion

Having a CAT fitted makes no difference to the MOT Rich. As long as the car in question passes the emissions test (in the case of petrol) and the smoke test (in the case of diesels) then that's all that matters. The CAT itself is not a testable item mate.
