Default Are these Ebay Tech 2 readers any good?

I came across some OBD2 readers on Ebay which state they read from the Vec C/Signum.

Can anyone advise if any of these are any good?

I think as a rule of thumb the more you pay, the more ECUs it will read from. I would imagine those for £10 or £20 will only read very basic codes from the main ECU.

A proper Tech2 costs in the region of £3-4k......

In fairness a proper Tech 2 does all of the writing & reprogramming too as the ones I found are just fault code readers.

Does this one work on the Vec C then? And do you have to look up the fault codes on a list or does i say what sesor/circuit is at fault?

sorry to resurect the thread, but I'm getting sick of not knowing what's wrong with my car, every week it seems to be something new. When I had old cars you could tell what was wrong by listening out and maybe some strip back some bits and you'd find the fault. But with the veccy I wouldn't know where to start. A few friends of mine have got VAG's and have similar reader type programs for their laptops and I'm quite impressed with the control they've got.

Have any of these bolt on devices shown any promising signs? there's one at £37 + £5p&p that say's it'll read vec-c's up to 04. almost worth the try...

Laptop plus software from here: http://www.ilexa.co.uk/ is an option.

I don't have it, but have heard good things about it. Not cheap, though.
£497 + VAT, but still cheaper than the real thing.

    ^^^^^^..

I've got that sytem as well......So has Plasma....

very good system, like VXRDV says, not cheap, but you do get what you pay for.. Ilexa also offer lifetime free updates ( which are quite regular), so compared to my old snappy handheld it's a much better bet..
