    Default coolant

Really blonde question for the petrol heads, Having had a company car most of my life any issues it went straight into the garage. I now own a Ventra 06 the coolant low warning light has just come on, checking the bottle the level is about an inch away from the line (Below).

Is it as simple as popping to Halfords and buying anti-freeze (Orange stuff) and topping it up? Also noticed Halfords do a large range is there any in particular you would recommend

    Cheers

If you want to top up with antifreeze then you need to use VX longlife which would have been used in the factory.......any other kind won't mix and it turns to a kind of jelly...only about a quid + vat for a litre at the stealers

Second that advice. Antifreeze these days doesn't seem to be interchangeable - you need the red GM stuff from main dealers. It's not expensive

when they changed the oil cooler on my 3.2 they drained all the coolant and replaced it with the blue stuff. Is this ok to do? Any ill side effects?

you will just need to replace it every 3 years max...the Blue is 'old' style formulation and breaks down more quickly...RED is 'longlife' and stays more 'stable' for 5 years...

lol, nope - I've just done mine. I was going to replace it anyway before winter, but the removal of the turbo kinda forced me into doing it sooner anyway as I had to drain the coolant to remove it.
