confused A funny thing happened on my way to for a service.......

Wondered if anyone could shed some light on this one?

Got one of these cheap german tuning boxes:
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Opel-Astra-Ant...QQcmdZViewItem

Took it off (as you do) to drop my car off for a service and when I came to start it up, it was stuck on 1500 RPM, no acceleration (no response from pedal). Luckily only live 1 mile from the dealers, so managed to limp in (annoying the rush-hour/school run in the process!)

Car is still in 3 days later as they tell me they had to order the accelerator cable and other wiring looms??!! As well as the service, I was told that they were going to do the DPF programmin g on warranty.

    My questions are:

1 - Would the chip have screwed anything up here?
2 - Is the DPF upgrade the likely culprit?
3- Is this merely a very unlucky coincidence?

Put this in the tun ing as I am betting on the first, but if not the right place let me know.

Thanks in advance for any help or comments.

I reckon you've refitted the plug back to front.

No throttle response and revving to 1500rpm are classic symptoms of this.

The DPF will have no effect on this.

Which plug? The standard one for the ecu? It will only fit one way??

    I haven't/hadn't re-fitted the tuning chip yet.

The plug on the end of the common rail, that you took off the Tuning box.

It can go on the wrong way around, which causes the classic symptoms you describe

As Andrew has said matey. It sounds like you've fitted the plug onto the end of the fuel rail up side down.

If a techy realises what the problem is they'll probably think your trading standards and give you a fantastic service.

Oh dear - have I won the "muppet of the week" contest then? Please tell me I'm not the first to do this?

In my defence, it was dark when I did it (blah, blah, excuse)........

and me! Very nice of them to order and replace all those unnecessary bits for you though. Shame it took so long though, as above, we could have had it fixed in about 5 seconds
