    Default CD70 and disc copies

Hi all, have read several threads here about Vauxhall CD players being crap with copied discs and even the fact that they dont guarentee the use of them in the instruction manuals!!

My question and or advice is that MP3 discs are not available commercially so how the hell do they expect us to do any other than make a disc.
Also I have found that the slower you burn the disc the better it will play.
Can anybody else confirm that this is indeed the same for them?
I took the car in for service yesterday with a view to getting it looked at under Network Q. After reading this forum I decided to tell them not to bother only for them to tell me that if the complaint is regarding copied discs they will NOT cover it under warrenty full stop.

    Any opinions or discussion welcome.

The players can be sensitive to the make of blank discs you use. I bought some cheapie ones to just use for the car and the player didn't like them. When I then used the good quality Verbatim ones I use for PC data etc. it was fine. Maybe try a different brand of disc to what you're using now? What were you using?

Funny you should ask Duncan as I have a spindle of 100 Verbatim 52x at the moment and they seem to be worse than the Imation I had. I am burning at 16x at the moment but am going to slow it down to 10x or less in future.
I guess the best would be 1x or 2x.

There are some commercial mp3 discs out there, but granted not many.

I burn discs at 32x, think they're riteks, and they work fine.

I always use 320kps if I can otherwise 256 or 192. 128 is usually iffy unless you use a good software program.
Always in stereo and seperate channels.
Jony your point is exactly what worries me. If yours is O.K why isnt mine?

It will be down to the discs you use - what ever your CD Player likes the most.

Well, i've dvd90, but that's not a difference cause the music player is the same in both (sure). i've never listened there was problems with mp3 discs so i burned my cds as i've always done, and no problem with this.
By the way, i use nero 7, i don't make any change in the options, so i think it burn with the highest speed. maybe u don't finish burn session?

    So, good luck autobahn...

I had this problem with the CD70 in mine with mp3 discs. Would play them for a while and then would say "Disc not recognised" and wouldnt play. 4 times out of 5 it would do this but then 1 time out of 5 it would play. Annoyed me silly so I took it to the stealers and asked them to look at it. Satndard £$%^& response came back when I picked the car up. "Sorry sir, we couldnt fault it. We didnt have an mp3 disc to test it" To which I replied (with agusto!!) "What about the disc that was IN the machine?????!!!!". Several apologies later I booked it in the following day and one of the senior mechanics came out with the tech 2 kit while I explained the problem. Fortunately it faulted while he was sitting there and the tech 2 stated that there wasnt a disc in the unit even although he had just seen me put it in. "This is one of two problems" he said. Either the head unit is knacked or there is a (resistor unit?) behind the dash.

Upshot is - they renewed the head unit (under warranty ......phew (around £1k)) and problem was cured. If it hadnt cured it, they would then had swapped out the resistor thingy behind the dash (approx £200). Seems a weird order to fault find - replace the expensive bit first - but he said that this was the way that the solution was spelled out in the book!!

I also had probs with the left hand rotating selector on the steering wheel - when I selected something and pressed it to confirm the selection, it would always return to the first track of the CD or changed the radio station regardless of what I was confirming.
