Default Ebay - how flippin' petty?!!

Put a few things on ebay recently, including the camera back pack I'd put on the forum. Got an email from them today saying it'd been removed due to "Inappropriate Seller Terms"

I thought and read further. Apparently my 'crime' was to have had the following line in my ad....... This is advertised elsewhere so I reserve the right to end the listing early

That was it! That was the reason for it being removed! Yeah, I know they say you can't do that and I should have probably just not had the line and ended it early if I'd needed to, but come on!!

So I sent back a somewhat 'to the point' reply......

I think it's a bit flippin' ridiculous to have this item removed just for stating what I did! I see ebay adverts day after day after day that have this and don't get removed, and yet one for a camera bag gets removed! Absolutely bonkers!!

Now that you've removed my ad, how do I access what i had typed into the ad? I want to relist it, with that line removed, and don't really want to type all the ad again as i can't recall exactly what I said in the ad.

I don't know why you couldn't have flagged me to edit it first, with a time limit to do so, instead of just removing it! If it had been a serious breach of the rules then yes, understandable - but for one so minor to just remove it with no warning, or opportunity to edit it is just plain unnecessary and heavy handed.

Instead of spending the time looking for extremely minor infractions like this, you should be spending it dealing with all the scam artists on ebay out to rip people off, or people selling illegal and counterfeit items - something I, and friends, see every single day. They are the ones that are putting people off ebay and making it more of a hassle to sell/buy things - not some extremely minor infraction. But I guess that ebay are only bothered about getting their fees at the end of the day, something they'll still get when a scammer sells something. I guess my 'crime' was to potentially 'deprive' ebay of their final selling fee, even though I'd still paid a listing fee, if I'd ended the auction early. Cynical? Nah, not me!

One very unamused 100% feedback ebay member!!!

Was sent just before noon, still awaiting a reply, I won't hold my breath! lol

What was daft was that another ad (for a printer) had the same line, and that wasn't removed - so to avoid that possibly being removed I edited the ad and removed it.

I just couldn't believe it! You'd have thought they would have been cracking down on all the dodgy/illegal/counterfeit stuff, not things like that! Just shows that all they're bothered about is the fees they get from a sale.

    [/RANT]. lol

They are getting a bit funny lately, apparently you can't put "as new" now cause they reckon it implies that it is new and will remove the listing. I always thought it was short for As Good As New.

With so much tat, counterfeit stuff and dodgey sellers you would think they have better things to worry about!

Damn, I missed the original post. I might have been interested. Do you still have it available? What's your current price?

    Angry

Ebay is getting silly lately. I had an ebook repair guide selling at 99p a time for the past 14 months, but last week it was pulled by e-bay for being listed in the wrong category, as it was listed in the same category as the games console it tells you how to repair. I listed this ebook 1 at a time, listing a new ebook once the old one expired.

Some weeks I made a bit of profit, usually < £2, other weeks I didn't make anything, however, Ebay made money off me every week, as did Paypal if any guides sold. An advert directly above mine was for the same thing, except this bloke had 26 Listings - yet mine was pulled & his wasn't.

I had a bit of a rant on the forums, only to discover that 99% of the time, ebay itself don't pick up the ads, it's someone that is either a competitor or just doesn't like your ad that finds something wrong then stitches you up to ebay.

On another auction, a bloke was selling a Nintendo Wii for £79, but the postage cost was £200 (Uk based seller) and these don't get pulled. Like most of you have said above, ebay finds small time sellers easier to nail than the big boys that generate most of their income, even if they are ripping the public off.

They did say that all the fees for the listing would be credited, but it's still a bit of an arse ache to relist it again!
