Default Have you ever run out of Fuel??

After yesterday's exploit's with a tos*er and his MR2 running out of fuel, i got wondering who else has ever run out of fuel...

I will admit to it twice, Once in a truck that had no Fuel guage when i was 17, and once in a car with a tempramental fuel guage when i was also 17!(An old MK2 Cavalier, it dragged sh!t up from the tank and burst the diaphragm in the Carb!)

    Have you ever run out??

Once or twice, plus I've just rolled up to the pump as it coughed it's last.
Worst one was an old Viva, one of my first cars, which dragged 13 years of crud out of the tank and took days to clear it out.

My first car was a Capri and the fuel guage on that was always giving me dodgy reading's so i too went on the premise £10 to 100miles,probably ran out of fuel about a dozen times, aswell as having a crap battery which used to go flat whenever it felt like, took me about 2 months to admit i needed a new battery, was only 18 at the time..........

I did when I had a mini cooper (old one), the wires often fell off the tank in the boot so the gauge didn't work. One day it went right down and I thought "it'll just be the wires fallen off again" NOPE I had about a three mile walk to get some juice LOL

Once, in a diesel courtesy car. They gave me it with fumes in so I stuck in a fiver, did a bit of mileage and later in the day went back to get my car and return theirs. I was hoping to get there and give them it back with fumes as well, but no - hadn't long set off and it conked out! lol Rang a neighbour who helped me out and got some diesel into it. Only needed to crank it a few times to get the fuel into the engine, thankfully no bleeding required!

In my own/other people's car - no, never ran out. So what do I vote for then?!

Yes, years ago when I had a MK2 cavalier 1.3, the fuel level sender must have had a hole in the float & never worked properly.
Had to fill up, zero trip meter & do same sort of mileage before filling up again.
Just didn't go to plan one morning, it was snowing & I had just passed a garage good job I used to keep an empty fuel can in the boot.

I was soon getting it in a garage to get the level sender replaced.
