    Default Tyre repairs

I went to North Eastern Tyre & Exhausts Ltd today to get a puncture repaired,

I walked in, told them i had a nail in my tyre they asked for my keys, so I handed them over, as Iím about to turn around to sit down, i asked "oh how much"... She said £13.80! I promptly replied "forget it , its fkn ridiculous that", and asked for my keys back, she looked very shocked i must say, but she shocked me!

How much is the average repair now? i was expecting £6-7 but nearly £14 is a joke innit?

    I've had 3 punctures in 2 months.

The first 2 cost £6 each.

The last one was repaired free at a unit by my work, but the bar steward scratched my alloy.

Next time I'll pay & save the alloys!

£14 is too dear I think

I too think that is a fair price if it includes balancing. If you concider the cost of running a bussness these days nowt is cheap anymore. What would you pay for some one to fix a fault on any other bit of you car/house..etc?

most places charge at least £5 for balancing, £2 for new valve and a fitting charge on top, usually £5 so £13 is about right.

Dont forget that while your car is on the ramp, your taking up space from someone who may want a new tyre fitting. In my opinion, Puncture repairs are done as goodwill gestures as i cant see how they could make any money doing them.

If theyre alloys they don't need balancing?

The weights are inside the wheel, not like steelys where they come off with the tyre I think?

Ive never paid more than £8 for a repair.

I think the cash usually goes in their @rse pocket.

it does not matter if you leave the weights on, it will still need to be balanced as it is the tyre you are balancing as wll as the rim. The repair will allmost certainly change the rolling weight/balance of the tyre as well as its position on refitting. tyre centres have to take intoconcideration any damages as well as poensial claims, so out undr £15 is a reasonable deal.

Ah I see. That makes sense.

Like I said though I've never paid more than £8 & not had problems (except for the freebie!)

Had one done recently and cost me £11.50. I must say I was happy because I was expecting to have to put a new tyre on at £100+
