Default 3.0 V6 CDTi servicing questions

    Guys

The car is due its yearly service and has 33K on the clock. I've been to my local motor factor to get the parts - oil, air, fuel and pollen filters. They had everything except the oil filter. I went to my local Vx parts department and they were looking for £33.10+VAT for it!!

Can I confirm that the oil filter for a Saab 9-5 3.0 diesel is the same part for my diesel and that I need about 7.25L of 5-30W fully synthetic oil.

Also I had a choice of pollen filters - standard or carbon. Which one do I need or does it make a difference??

The motor factor was selling Comma 5-30W fullly synthetic oil for £19.50+VAT which I think is a good price. The owners manual says that the quality should be GM-LL-A-025 which seems to be VX's rating. What grade quality do I need to look for on the Comma oil??

    Look forward to your replies.

    Thanks

    James

Check the oil container and it should have its rating on it. There is also an oil bible on the forum somewhere Here.

Hope that helps. Ask the supplier if its upto or above the GM-LL-A-025 rating.
As for the pollen filter both are ok, but the carbon one is supposed to be better .
