    Default Is my ESP broken?

I've got a 57 1.9 CDti 150 exclusiv and specced it with ESP. I've had esp on a Golf, 105bhp tdi, and it worked a treat. You could keep it floored on a wet roundabout and it would sort it all out and keep tracked to the line without the need to alter steering or throttle inputs. You could hardly ever get wheelspin, and only a little slip on the worst case befor ESP stepped in.

The vectra will happily spin its wheels in the wet with the little triangle flashing away. I tried the roundabaout scenario and it started to run wide until I lifted off the throttle to bring it back in line! I know flooring it whilst on a wet roundabout is not an ideal driving technique, but the Golf could do it why not the Vectra? Is it just because there is an extra 45bhp going through the wheels?

Are you sure you've got ESP? I don't think it's standard on that model/engine.

Thanks for the response. I specified it as an optional extra, I think they call it ESP Plus. There is no button on the dash but I checked with Vauxhall and they confirmed that it had been fitted against the chassis number. I get the flashing yellow triangle when it's losing grip and it does attempt to stop the wheel spin, but it doesn't seem as effective as the Golf.

I would say you probably do have it because i can`t even put my foot down on a dry road straight or otherwise without the wheels loosing traction. It does have the BSR map but it s absolutely horrendous without ESP/TC at times even to the point of being annoying.Never thought i d dislike the ability to spin the wheels just by hitting the pedal.

I've never noticed that the TC does much either

I have ESP+ and tbh its not very good, floor it in the wet and it spins away. It does help on slippery roundabouts but remember, its a driver aid not a complete control system.

It sounds like my ESP is performing in a similar manner to other people's...it's obviously not as good as the Golf though!

I understand that it's and aid, I just used the roundabout scenario as a comparative example to the Golf.

    Thanks for your responses.

I have ESP+ & IDS+ BSR remap and ive not noticed mine spinning when pulling away "enthuastically", I also had no switch (57 plate also) but the dealers fitted one, at first the switch just illuminated and didnt work but they hooked the car upto tech2 and it works ok now, Seems daft they dont fit the switch in the 1st place..

if i floor mine going around a roundabout i start to suffer from too much G force....

All joking aside ive had people really praise my car on the way it handles around roundabouts... Glad i got the IDS+...

Would there be any value in taking it to Vauxhall to get it checked out? Don't get me wrong, it does help but if you keep your foot down out of a 2nd gear corner or junction it spins the wheel/s. I just didn't get this is the Golf, or a rental Peugeot 407, perhaps there wasn't the power there to corrupt the wheels?
