Following on from this thread, where I won an item on ebay, I'd like to give a huuge thanks to Dave (Vec-trance) for helping me out.
As I mentioned, I won the item on Wednesday, paid for it straight away and e-mailed the seller to see about collecting it. They took a while to reply and finally did, along with a phone number. So I rang them on Sunday only for them to mention that they were leaving the country on the following Friday, but wouldn't be at the house as of Tuesday!! Brilliant, I thought!! I'm never going to be able to get up there by Tuesday, hence me posting the original thread. I thought of getting a courier to collect, but it wasn't going to work out. The seller wasn't going to be around either Monday or Tuesday long enough in one place to be able to wait around for a courier - so that scuppered that one!
Anyway, Dave offered to help out as he's currently working in London most days, but also at Gatwick, so he said a friend in Wimbledon would take delivery of the item (the seller dropped it off at Wimbledon - least they could do really), he would be able to pick it up on Tuesday and meet up with me today at Gatwick. So that's what we did and I met up with Dave today. Nice to meet you m8, and thanks very much again and your mate. I'd never even meet Dave, and here he was helping out another member.
I'd also like to thank Perry for initially offering to help out with this one as well, and given that he is in Watford then it was somewhat out of his way, but he still offered - and grateful again.
Third thanks......
Won another ebay item - cot bed thingy - but it was in Leicester, so we thought we would probably collect it on our way up to the NE for Christmas - or way down if the seller was okay with waiting that time.
I was going to be meeting Matt (Maverick) this Saturday to collect the tow bar that I'm buying from him - as he was going to be in West Sussex. As Matt lives in Leicester, I asked him if we were able to get the cot bed over to him (maybe the buyer would have done it) could he also bring it down with him. He did better than that, he offered to go and collect it from the buyer and bring it down which was very kind. So, thanks Matt! - much appreciated.
It's just great to know that there are members who will help another member, even without having ever met them in one case, and it's much appreciated and what makes this club what it is. I've gone out of my way to help members in the past, and it's nice when members then do the same for you.
I'll stop there before this gets too mushy!! lol
