Default Kwik Fit scratched my wheels

The front tyres were worn ut so had 2 new Michelin Pilot 225/45 ZR18 sports on the front thanks to my leasing company & the local Kwik Fit, very nice.

The wheels were as black as black can be when they were fitted so at the weekend I gave the car a wash.

1, No plastic caps on the drivers side nuts.

2, I found a small mark on the same wheel, couldn't remember clipping a kerb & the mark was vertical + another smaller mark at 180 degrees opposite

3, washed the other front & found an almost identical mark on that wheel too.

Went back today & they said they'll talk to the fitter & call me back , at least I got the nut covers back

My cars only been into a garage 4 times 1 service, twice for tyres & once for the garage that serviced the car to refurb the wheel they scratched. Anyone see a pattern here, why are they so f***ing careless with other peoples property

Rant over for now, having a bad week, but at least I'm on holiday for the rest of it

As above + Quick fit suck, they are very expensive, very in competant, don't know anything and never stock cheaper tyres.......

Duncan had the same problem a while ago but after moaning at the garage they refurbed his wheels free of charge. The problem is that they are doing this day in day out and do not give a toss. I will watch every move when they are doing my wheels so any problems can be sorted out straight away.
Once the wifes car went in and they lost the locking wheel nut

Well this problem is apparently in every country. I´ve experienced exactly the same here in Sweden. In fact three of my rims has been replaced by the reseller. They have been scratched in their washing machine, and last time the did a really big scratch on rear wheel when tires where changed. I told them to be careful since they had been messing up before.
Got the car back and noticed a huge scratch, called back and they said they didn´t notice when replacing the wheel. Talked to the manager and he fixed the problem and told that there where no way in h that they did not notice this scratch.

So in two years I´ve managed to get 3 new wheels for my car at no cost. There is not a single scratch on them. Now I only has to sell them since I´m picking up my first Opel on tuesday

Need I say that my local wheel dealer will not sell anything to me anymore?

Hi all, common problem here with alloys. I just posted a thread last week on my recent experience in Scotland. See my thread for details (wickedwillie, posted 26/11/07). Roll on the next tyre change. NOT!!!

Mate of mine used to work for Kwik-Fit, or as he named them, Gimp-Fit!!!

The stuff they are told to do to bring in more money is unreal. Things like squirting some oil or WD40 on shockers to make it look like they were leaking etc.

It's the female of the species i worry about as the majority are not jenned up on cars and they really do take them for a ride.

And Tom Farmer, the CEO is the biggest money grabber you can imagine.

It's quite shocking when you find out the truth about some of these big companies. People see the glitzy ads on TV and think, 'What a fantastic place, they look really honest and caring. I'll go there right away and get shafted up the rear with a red hot poker without even knowing'.

Snowman, you got your ears on?

They scraped mine a while back also, but ime quite a few places do also, only remedy really is to digital photo all 4 wheels and tell the fitter to see that they are unmarked before he goes to work on them and insist he is careful when removing the old tyre, I actually think it's the plate that secures the wheel for them that does the damage.
