Is this a common problem with 2.0 dti pump?

As the title says is there a problem with the 2.0 dti fuel pump i am getting worried now at what milage do these give up the ghost and from what year mine is a 2004 2.0 ltr dti

No, its not a common problem, they have been known to pack up but were mostly the older ones in the Veccy B, make sure you use good quality derv like Shell, I use Millers Sport 4 additive in mine as well for added lubricity, its on 117,000 and never missed a beat from 30,000 when i bought it. ( touching wood franticly )

If you use crap diesel (like raspberry juice, or Asda's crap) then there is a risk of seizing up the pump.
