Default Help on my Vectra's gearbox!!

    Hi Guy's,
Wondered if any of you could help me. Have got a (53) Vectra 3.2V6 Elite - Automatic. Bought it last January. Has developed problem which is error code P0715. Kept taking it back to place where I bought it and they put it on the computer, cleared the code and I would drive off only for it to happen again. Found out that it was due a recall on seal on radiator so contacted Vauxhall. Took it in today and they have agreed to do recall work but they seem reluctant to pay for new gearbox should the car need it! Has anyone had the same problem - and if so - did you get Vauxhall to pay for box - and how did you manage to get them to pay for it.
    Any help would be appreciated,
    Thanx Guy's
    Dave.

There's been a raft of threads on this very problem. It's very well known to Vauxhall, who will probably deny it!

Do a quick search, arm yourself with the results, if they start to argue or still pretend there isn't a problem, steer them this way!

    Thanx Mate,
I am a newbie to forum lark. Seem to be getting fobbed off by Vauxhall. Where and how do I get the ammunition to get what we all want.
    Cheers,
    Dave

    Hi Mate,
Thanx for the info. Car booked into VX on monday for them to do the recall work. We will go from there. They said they will not pay for a new gearbox. Will let you know how we get on. A bit miffed as I have had Vauxhall's for 15 years. Cavalier SRI x 2, Cavalier 2.5V6 and old shape Vectra 2.5V6. Have always found them to be reliable which is why I bought the Vectra C. Does loyalty count these day's?? Thanx once again mate,
    Cheers,
    Dave

First of all why did this guys that sold the car in the first place just plug tha car to the computer and erase the code! what kind of fix is that! I guess that you can make them pay for part of the reapairs if VX will not take care of the bill.

Never thought of that! When gearbox started to go wrong I took it back to the garage where I bought it and they (and I) thought it rectified the problem until I drove it down the road and I only had 2nd & 5th gears. They told me to take it back and they did the same again! This has been going on for 4 months. It was only when I found this forum that I found out about the recall. I had a fight with them to even look at the car in the first place!! Will keep on fighting the cause!

Car , would you believe, went wrong exactly 6 months and 2 weeks after I bought it. That is why they wouldn't look at the car. I have been in touch with Office of Fair Trading for advice and they advised that the car isn't fit for the purpose. So I am at loggerheads with the garage as well. But after finding out about the recall (which should have been done before I bought the car) I feel VX should be responsible. I got a letter and sticker about the handbrake problem so why not the gearbox as well?

Yes! VX should deal with the issue IMO.
At least in your country you get by law some warranty...here what you see is what you get....no matter if the car runs fine for 1 day or 10 years
