Default Insurance, really need some advice on claim

    Right
Got hit in July, driver drove off however i got the reg plate and police invilved,

To cut a long story and rambling short, my insurance still are waiting for the other parties details (they have name and address due to police involvement)
Im out of pocket to the tone of £475 Excess and lost my 2years NCB.

What can i do, every time i ring up they say we are still waiting for the other parties details.

Any suggestions as obviously theres about £1300 tied up of my money because someone hit me

To be honest m8, there's not a lot you can do, other than keep ringing them regularly, but that probably just annoys you more than them, waiting in the queue on the line and listening to that damn music, lol.
When there is any sort of dispute over blame etc, it can take years to sort out.
I had a claim that wasn't my fault, but was disputed by the other party, it had cost me my excess and no claims, took three years to sort it out in the end, through my uninsured losses policy, and to be honest, that was quicker than it would have been because the other party finally admitted liability once all the statements where in and we were just a couple of weeks away from court !!! (date was already set)
Sorry to say, these things take time.

So it could take time, but i would get something back eventually.

i tend to ring up every month, but nothing has ever changed. Not being snobby but the money isnt the issue its the fact i have been punished because of someone else.

Still if it gets resolved i will be happy just frustrating not knowing any rough time

I think you're going to have to sit this one out to be honest. My better half was involved in a multicar bump on the M4 a couple of years ago (wasn't her fault, she was stationary and she was the last in line of the chain of bumps) and that took neary 18 months to sort out as the main culprit kept changing his story etc.

At the end of it she got all her expenses back (excess etc).

I know it seems a bit harsh for you but insurance companies have to go through procedures, I would consider getting the Police more involved if they are withholding information?!

    The police are quiet involved,
she has said she wasnt driving the car and the owner didnt fit my description, the cctv from the shop she left confirms my description BUT it isnt the owner
So the owner is saying she doesnt know who it is, police have said thats highly unlikely and she is responsible as the car owner. As the car wasnt stolen it was returned and the police saw the damage to the car which correlated to mine.

Well I thought it was a crime to withhold information (don't you have 14 days to respond or something - I'm sure some of the boys in blue on here will confirm), and unless she can prove the car was actually stolen in my book she would still be responsible as it would still have been in her "charge" at the time!

yeah the police have said it was in her charge she is denying she knows who the driver was as she was asleep!!

I know its gonna take time, as the police more or less said the house where the owner lives is a druggies den (not in as many words but clearly they meant this)

Have you tried the insurance Ombudsman or lloyds? i had a fight when i changed companies. The old company refused to provide the certificate of no claims to the new company. The new company threatened to cancel my policy etc etc etc.

Eventually i went to the Ombudsman who told me to go to Lloyds who police all insurance companies. I spoke to a chap there who took the points of contact of all parties, and within 48 hours I had me new certificate.

I'd give you the contact details but it was years ago. I think there should be something in you policy about complaints. IIRC thats where I started.
