    Default There's always one......

We had this guy come into the shop this morning shouting that his in-car dvd player was broken.

He bought it from the Halfords site and tried to fit it himself, during which he cut the wiring loom

He tried to blame Halfords for selling him a duff unit and was shouting at me, another member of staff and the boss.

Took 45 minutes of shouting/arguing before he realised he wasn't going to get anywhere and walked out!

After that i managed to make a £15 bonus on Sat Navs!!

Tam, you shouldn't be all Halfords about this, you get the same wages whatever, next time give the bloke a new unit, never be tight with other ppl's money, especially as they only use you as cheap labour.

VV - but if the chap himself has cut the wires on a perfectly servicable unit why should Halfords or any other shop for that matter replace it?

If I damaged my car (or for that matter anything else which I had bought) I wouldnt expect the dealer/shop to replace it free!! I would not expect them to repair it for free either.

And I certainly wouldn't shout at the sales team!

    What's the world coming to!

Ahh, I got ya, he's snipped into the radio wiring on the unit, I read it with the goggles on that he'd cut the car loom, well in that case there's not a lot Tam could do about that one.

    Here goes:

First 2 questions are "how much are you looking to spend?" and "how much are you going to be using the sat nav?"

Basically it's a choice of either Garmin or TomTom. Here are the 4 basic models i sell the most.

Garmin Nuvi 200 is the basic UK/Ireland one with pre-loaded speed camera info free for 30 days. - £129.99

Garmin Nuvi 250 is UK/Ireland and Europe with pre-loaded speed camera info free for 30 days. - £159.99

Both come in widescreen versions £159.99/£179.99

TomTom One UK V3 is the latest model of the UK/Ireland - £149.99

TomTom One Europe has UK, Ireland and Western Europe - £149.99

Both come in widescreen versions, have speed camera info and i have been pushing the Europe as it's the same price as the UK.

You can get more expensive units of both makes which have built in Bluetooth and MP3 technology, or the Garmin Nuvi 660FM that has all that plus an FM transmitter

You need to know precisely what you're going to use it for, and don't say nav'ing to get the right model for you.

There are other makes on the market too, don't just look at Halfords who only do a limited range of product, and may not be the cheapest place either.

Personally i will only use a Tom Tom, Have tried other Sat nav brands, and as good as they have been, nothing can match a TT for reliability and accuracy IMO..
