    Question lights out

Hi guys, first time posting so a bit nervy.

Just got another vectra and while cleaning it and checking the lights i noticed that the rear lights are not working on both sides, the ones that are also the brake lights ( brake lights work ok ), bottom 2 bigger ones are both working ok,
does anyone know if there is a fuse for them or is it a trip to the auto electrics for them to rip me of again,
I have been looking at vectras when they pass me ( wagon driver nightshift ) and some have only one side out that is why i was thinking possible separate fuse for each side,
    Thanks and a great site.

Have you got the bulb warning function on yours, I was going to suggest checking the bulbs as when a brake light bulb fails the car then subsitits a side light instead. I would have thought there should be a fuse, but off hand I don,t know for sure.
    PS welcome to the site.

    Hi ed,thanks for the welcome,
I do have the bulb out function on mine sorry should have said what car i have, it is a 52 plate sri 2.2 petrol, the brake lights work ok, when i checked them i took the bulb out thinking it would be a double filament bulb got a shock when i saw a single bulb even bigger shock when i took the bottom bulb out to put in the top and the top lit up scary then i read on this great site that it is a feature of the vectra to do that, would be nice to get all 4 lights lit up at the same time though.

I don't know what "52 plate" means (does this indicate the year?)...

Somewhere around 2004 Opel made all four red tail lamp bulbs illuminate when you brake so hard that the ABS comes on

    Steveo,

I had problems recently with my 2005 SRi rear lights.
All the bulbs (apart from the indicator bulb which, on my car, are coloured) are the same wattage, the cars electronics reduces the intensity of the illumination as required.
The rear tail lamps, when switched on, illuminate 2 bulbs per side (all driving at 5 watts power per bulb) whereas the brake lights share one of these bulbs per side (driving at 21 watts power per bulb).
I had 1 bulb (brake bulb) blow and yes, another circuit took over. This gave the effect that on one side, when I pressed the brake pedel had two bulbs acting as a brake light and the other side did not light.
If you have not checked, check all bulbs as one or two bulbs out may give weird effects.

    Hi wickedwillie,

What you said about 2 bulbs per side illuminating when you switch on your tail lamps that is what the problem is with mine only one per side are on the other one which is also the brake light is not on when you put the tail lamps on ,

I have checked all the bulbs and they are all working ok,
I was wondering if all 4 bulbs for the tail lamps are using the same fuse.

Thanks for your replies this is very helpful.
