confused Loss of Power when going uphill

    Hi Guys
    Superb website!!

Im having a problem with my new vectra. Whenever i drive uphill there is a massive loss of power then EM light comes on, i have to keep changing down gears all the way down to get up the hill.

This is causing me major problems as im a taxi driver. VX dealers say they cant see the problem with it, nothing shows up on there tech2 test. Im at a complete loss as to what it is

    Vectra C 1.9 cDTi
    54 Plate

    Anyone got any ideas?
    Cheers
    Steve

Sounds like a turbo hose ready to go somewhere, it wont go over 3000rpm as is gone into safe mode.

A VX dealer should be able to find the problem with a bit of time under the bonnet.

If the engine management light is coming then there will be an error code logged within the ECU matey. It sounds like the car is jumping into limp home mode.

Take it to another dealer for a second opinion, or call out AA/RAC if you use them as they can plug in and read the code.

But doesn't it only store the error code if the error is on for more than 30 seconds. So if it went into limp and you stopped and turned the engine off straight away it wouldn't store the code. Or is the dealer fobbing me off with that excuse. And if you disconnect the battery for a reset it wipes the error codes from the ECU? me thinks

It does sound like a boost pipe related fault. Will it happen if you give the car full beans on a straight/flat section of road?
