Default Which engine best with Auto 'box ?

    Hi All,

Not posted before and am thinking of getting a 2004 Vectra (onwards) but with a self shifter to cope with all the traffic i sit in !

Looking at the 2.2 petrol 4 banger but and open minded, prefer petrol but not too fussed.

Question:- Which engine works best with an Auto ?

Any ideas would be welcome. Havnt test driven yet but 'casue of all the combo's would like a short list to try. Fuel economy NOT important. Smooth drive pref.

You only have three options, 2.2 pet, 1.9 CDTi or 3.2 GSi, 2.2 will be about 5mpg better than the 3.2 and the oiler will be fantastic on juice as long as it's doing 50 mph + most of the day, not so clever on the urban, but there is a cost to it, higher purchase price.

If juice ain't an issue it should be the 3.2 all day long.
