Hi,
looking to buy a new laptop - my budget is £500 max. Just wondering what laptops you recommend and also where are the best places to purchase one?
Have been looking at ebuyer and ebay, maybe not the best?
thanks

Dell, normally have some good deals.
I have a dell d630
I have just, two weeks ago bought an Advent 9215 from PC World.
It has a Pentium Dual Core 1.6Ghz Processor
15.4" Widescreen
2GB Memory
160GB hard drive
Optical DVD rewriter
3 USB's
Intergrated webcam
Wireless
Windows Vista Home Premium
I paid £429.
I Have to say I found it to be about the best, pound for performance wise and I am very happy with it!
Don't dismiss Staples.........cheap prices.
They are end of line but aren't all computers once you have bought them..
They have a very nice Fujitsu Siemens Li 1718
Intell duel core T2080 processor
1GB ram
120GB hard drive
Vista Premium
All for £349 but you need to visit the store and there is one in Aberdeen

My Son got the acer 9301 from tesco £399 a really good laptop at that price.Check out the spec
I have an Acer which is bang on, a lot of laptop for your money. the wife has an advent which is decent as well ..
I bought a Dell back in March, and would never buy another one!
They seem to live off a reputation form 5 years ago, where all there stff was the bo!!ock's, but now everyone has caught up and their stuff is just ordinary!
Some blinding deals on lesser known Laptop's that have really good spec can be got nowadays.
Judging by my recent dealings with Acer (had one that lasted 5 days, supplied a desktop that was DOA and their pathetic excuse of customer and tech support) and the amount of "refurbished" Acer'* at a local 2nd user dealer I think I would give them a miss at the moment.
As Ben said you can get some good deals on decent makes at the moment, can't go far wrong with a Toshiba, Lenovo or HP and Ebuyer can be vwry competitive.
That's great, thanks for all the replies. Will take a look at the one in Staples - cheers.
