Default lesson learnt on SAT NAV

ok a bit of a novice on SAT NAV use...learnt an important lesson today......dont assume postcode is correct......was suppose to be trying out a route for Jans interview in the Dartford area for the NHS....just put in their postcode and off we went....got in a bit of a muddle with all the roadworks going on around the A2 off the m25..kept following the annoying women on the SAT NAV .......got a little concerned when we start heading down all these minor roads(which were all flooded with muddy water)..finally woman says youve reached your destination ........shock horror it turned out to be a farm EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK.....sat for a few mins and put the actual address in ,started up and found we had virtually passed the place 2 miles earlier ..................lesson learnt

Done that once at the first meeting I went to for Vectra-C.

Was supposed to be on a shopping centre but I'd apparently reached my destination when I pulled up on to someones drive in downtime Toxteth.

It's the one and only time I'd not scrolled through the map to check the route.

Yep, postcodes can cover quite a large area as you found, and just entering the postcode will take you to the centre of that area. Always best to enter the street as well.

Last time I used sat nav (tomtom on my pda) it was to get to PVS this summer. Got us to the travelodge in northampton perfectly, then in the evening we left the travelodge to meet up with some others for a bbq at a campsite about 20 mins drive away. Put the address of the campsite in.......

Nearly an hour later, we arrived in the middle of chuffing nowhere. Drove up and down the country road a couple of times looking for the campsite with no joy. Scratched my head quite a lot, then entered the postcode instead of the address.

15 miles later we finally arrived! Somehow, there was another village in the area with a similar name, and an identical road name!
