Default Question for all you police officers

On Friday I witnessed some one drinking at the wheel?(Travelling up the M1) I know this sounds a stupid question but is it illegal? Itís not the first time I have seen this, and wondered what action if any can be taken.

Drinking booze? or just a can of pop?

I drink in the car all the time, coke that is. Were they causing a problem or do you just have a problem with it?

If they are drinking pop or eating, it might be considered that they are not in full control of the verhcal.

The best thing to have done would have been a call to the police, then they could have got a traffic car to come and give her the good news.
We often get calls from people who have seen this sort of thing/following drunk drivers etc.

    I think is still illegal.
Driveing under the influance of alcohol even still under the limit is a chargeable ofence i think. I'm sure somebody can put me right.
I'm sure if it went to court and the judge heard she was holding the can at the wheel she'd get done.
