Creating a web site?

Hi all,

Does anyone know what is involved when creating a web site, I'm just after info as to the how the who etc?

Well, unless you're a whizz with hand coding HTML you're going to need some software.
Depends how serious you are about it. I use Dreamweaver - not cheap but a fantastic package. There are others around like MS FrontPage (not very good but not expensive), Adobe GoLive ('competitior' to Dreamweaver but still a bit behind) and there are probably a bunch of other ones as well.

You'll also need the ability to produce graphics (assuming that you'll have at least some). Once again,some heavy duty packages will do this - Macromedia Fireworks, Photoshop etc. but so will cheap/free packages.

There are even websites around that will knock up a website for you based on what style etc you're looking for - all based on templates. Some free (so don't expect much) and others that you pay for (ranging from so-so to rather quite good).

It all depends what you want to do. What do you want to do?

Thanks Duncan,

It's something for my wifes business, she does Cosmetic Injectable Treatments and one or two of her clients have mentioned that they found it difficult to find anyone in the area via the net........so it's just to get something out there that will come up when people do a search and get them the basic info i.e. company name, phone numbers, costs etc.

it's pretty easy to pop up a simple site, but getting it onto the search engines confuses the hell outta me...anyone know what's the best way?

Have a look HERE mate. There's some templates that you can add your own text and pictures to bud. They will even host it for you at very good prices.

There is a form on Google to submit your site, but really you need to wait for them to find you with their web bots which go looking for sites, it took google a couple to months to find us and we had filled in the form as well.

You can also pay google to put your site on, a subscription service, so an ongoing cost ..
