    Default 2.2 Sri Dti

Am looking to get one of these over the next month or so. Just wondering if anyone can offer any advice as to any specifics to check when looking, common weak-points etc? I've been told car has a chain, so doesn't require changing, is this correct? If so, are there chain tensioners which require changing or anything? If so, when should it be done? Finally a car I'm viewing only has 1 key, how much is it for a new 1 and programming?
Finally, have many people got HID kits fitted or retro-fitted xenons? Any pics or advice on price and ease of fitting.

Apologies for all the questions peeps, just doing my homework?

Turbos are the weak part of both the 2.2 and 2.0DTi. Mine is ****ged and there's 62k on the clock.

Have to agree with the above. Get the turbo thoroughly checked before commiting, an AA inspection or similar would be a good move. The bottom pulley can go awol too, the first you'll know is an underbonnet clonk and a few moments later, the spanner light on the dash will come on and the coolant temp guage will go through the roof.

As for the chain, listen to it for any squeaks or rattles, it should be silent. If not, budget for a replacement, though this is a very rare issue.

The leak off pipes from the injectors can deteriate over time, syptoms are it'll be a pain in the ass to get it going after it's been stood for any length of time. Solution is new pipes, easily replaced.

Look carefuly at the condition / security of the turbo boost and intercooler hoses. They can split or blow off completeley, syptoms will be loss of power and plumes of black smoke behind you.

Also, check the rear shocks. Another common problem, but very easy to rectify - use it as a bargaining tool.

If there's a warranty going, I'd have another.
