Used a wire brush myself. Then with a clean paint brush removed the remaining dust. Didn't bother with cleaner.

    Tip.

Keep your mouth shut when carrying out above method........

    I did this....

    1. Remove wheel
    2. Generously apply cheapo alloy wheel cleaner to help dissolve brake dust
    3. Fill bucket with very very hot water and washing up liquid (dissolves grease better than car shampoo)
    4. Use stiff brush (usually found on the draining board in my kitchen ) to scrub calipers with the hot soapy water
    5. Rinse with clean water and allow to dry

(i.e. John 35) If you've got a bit of braker cleaner then it wouldn't do any harm as it does remove any film that may prevent good adhesion, but no huge need to go out and buy some if you haven't got any - but it does help.

    Thanks for the tips !

Well, i'm thinking of keeping the car a bit inconspicous so will probably go with black although I haven't completely rulled out using a colour yet.

Since i'm putting on the wheels which I bought from Mark (ABD-1) with fresh front tyres I thought it would be a good opportunity to clean up the calipers and paint them.

I have seen silver VX caliper stickers which I might get, can't find any on ebay at the mo.

I was going to wait until the spring but i'm already getting impatient LOL

thanks for that, I must have missed them on the search I did.

I will probably go for silver on black, but I have thought about maybe blue on grey calipers.

Great That's helped me make up my mind, I want the brakes to be nice and tidy without being "in your face" so i'll go with the black
