    Default Computer question

My laptop has started making a funny noise. I traced it to the "cooling fan" so I took it apart and cleaned the fan (full of dust).
Started it up again and it still makes a noise.

It looked like a cheap "made in china" part so didn't think it would cost too much to repair. Popped into the local independent PC repair shop and asked them the cost to replace.

minimum cost £40..........and that includes a service.

It that a reasonable price to replace a fan and what is a laptop service..

Its a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pro V2030 by the way.

    Any advice welcome...

A fan would cost way less than that, just if you can find one the right size. whats the diameter and depth of the fan?

Don't think I need a service running OK. Just the fan running noisy. How can I source a part.....

It will be a matter of 4 tiny screws and disconnecting the plug. Literally 30 secs work.

If you get a part number off the fan google may do the trick, if not try searching for "axial fan" on rswww.com and narrow down by your size etc.

The fan itself could have come slightly loose causing it to vibrate slightly. Look on ebay there are plenty of shops with laptop spares just do a search with the model of the laptop and see what pops up.

Laptop fans tend to be model specific m8
I've just done a search and found a couple of places that do spares but no mention of the fan

http://www.buyspares.co.uk/cgi-bin/s...FQ5tMAodzTCXjA might be worth a call

A fan should cost no more than about £15 and consider that dear.

Ear ya are John, try this link, there's an outlet in Bristol so that's probably the best one to order from....http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/d...ts.html?s=fans

Just ring and ask which one is most suitable.

Couldnt you ask the shop to order you a replacement fan?, then fit it yourself?
