Default Went for a remap today

No, not my vectra (not seen anything worth doing to the 2.2 direct) but my girlfriends smart. Went to Smartsrus in Nottingham, had booked a couple of weeks ago and were also due to get cruise control fitted at the same time. I'd paid the £179 for the cruise control in advance as they have to buy in the board and new stalk, so just expecting to pay £299 for the remap. Sat in their waiting area for ages and then the guy came back saying "sorry the cruise module isn't working, we'll have to order another one" which wasn't great. Then he asked "did you order them together to get the offer?" i'm thinking "what offer?" he says "oh, if you spend over £150 on bits you get the remap for free, and i'm happy to honour that especially as you're going to have to come back" So......... result! one free remap! power is apparently boosted to 81bhp (yep, 81!) but low down the rev range feels a lot better too. also the rev limiter is gone, and on our private test track we managed 93mph before catching up with the other people using the, er, test track. Expecting to see some suprised faces when a smart hits 100

Bargain of the century, plus it was a birthday present. If she hadn't been there guess i could have kept shut, but as she knows the truth i'll spend the money on something else for her as well, so she gets double benefit!

If 81bhp is the best they can do, I'd expect it for free

Not bad for 600CC, be the same as getting 270 from a 2.0t

Once you're inside they don't feel any different from something like a corsa/ka, i'll let you know how we get on if we hit the 100 mark. I guess it could be uncomfortable on an A road but on the Mway the road smooth enough. One of the nicest things about the remap is that the rev limiter was very intrusive, it made the car shake at 85, so now that's gone you can comfortably do 85 without the shakes.
